Today I’d like to tell you more about Celtic folk music and why I find it so amazing and attractive.
First of all, it’s its originality that inspires me. Celtic music is in many ways different from the other genres of folk/world music. Its harmonies and melodies, its tempo are complicated and require a great deal of concentration from performers and a beautiful taste from listeners.
Secondly, it’s the diversity of Celtic music that makes it so alluring for global audience. I’d say that Celtic music has various subgenres which fall into several categories – lyric, epic, mysterious, children’s tales and humorous songs which are played to accompany limericks – the satyric subgenre of Celtic poetry.
Next, you can never get rid of enchantment this music imposes on you. A tremendously wide range of moods – from vivid early morning songs to melancholic flute concertos – keep warming your heart and inspiring your creative mind. There’s something so sensitive and uplifting about Celtic folk pieces of music that they keep empowering you even if you are short for time or extremely exhausted and distressed.
Finally, it is meaningful. There are legends and historic events behind each song, so you will never feel left out of a circle of miracles.
I hope you found this short journey on waves of northern folk music useful and encouraging and I wish you to become more and more aware of your musical tastes and preferences.
